A NEW INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION PROJECT IN THE FIELD OF DIGITALIZATION, LAUNCHED IN CHISINAU
On 19 and 20 October 2022, the Republic of Moldova hosted the first Meeting of representatives of the Eastern Partnership states to launch a new regional cooperation project in the field of digital transformation and reengineering of public services.
The event was attended by over 30 representatives of authorities responsible for e-governance and public services in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova, and was aimed at identifying the objectives and achievements of the participating countries, as well as to explore new opportunities for an innovative approach to strengthening regional cooperation in relevant areas. During the meeting, the participants reviewed the trends, challenges, lessons learned in the field of e-governance and digitalization of public services in the Eastern Partnership countries, in the general context of public administration reform.
The Director of the e-Governance Agency, Olga Tumuruc, welcomed the initiative to launch a new regional cooperation project in the field of e-governance and reengineering (rethinking and digitalization) of public services, and pointed out the importance of building confidence and partnerships to ensure the best solutions in overcoming the challenges faced by Eastern Partnership countries. “We fully support and are committed to participating in this project, since we understand that our digital services and products can be improved and aligned to our citizens' needs only through continuous cooperation and communication,” pointed out Olga Tumuruc.
The agenda of the first meeting under the mentioned project also included a fact-finding visit to the Unified Centre for Public Service Provision (CUPS) in Lozova commune, Straseni district. During the visit, the participants were familiarized with the innovative model of provision of public services to people living in rural areas. The CUPS pilot project is implemented for the first time in the Republic of Moldova by the e-Governance Agency, with the support of the World Bank Group, under the Modernization of Government Services Project.
The event was organized under the auspices of the e-Governance Agency, in cooperation with the Public Services Agency and the German International Cooperation Agency (GIZ Moldova).
