ELECTRONIC SIGNATURE BECOMES MORE ACCESSIBLE TO CITIZENS VIA MULTIFUNCTIONAL CENTRES OF PUBLIC SERVICES AGENCY
As of July 15th, citizens of the Republic of Moldova have the opportunity to simplify the process of obtaining an electronic signature via the multifunctional centres of the Public Services Agency (PSA).
The pilot project is launched between July 15th and August 28th, in Multifunctional Centres No. 3 (17 Mihail Sadoveanu Str. and No. 4 (6 Decebal Blvd.) in Chisinau, and will be later extended to the Multifunctional Centres of the PSA throughout the country.
This action eliminates the need to travel to Chisinau to obtain the electronic signature service, making it possible to obtain it at the nearest PSA Multifunctional Centre. Thereby, citizens will no longer be obliged to present copies of their identity documents at the desk; it is sufficient to present a valid identity document, payment slip and the filled in application form for certification of the public key, available on the portal www.semnatura.md. Subsequently, the device for creating an electronic signature, on which the key pair is written, is provided to the applicant. Electronic signatures created by this device have the same legal validity as a handwritten signature.
In the initial phase, the PSA Multifunctional Centres will exclusively serve individuals, while legal entities will continue to be served in the offices of the Information Technology Service and Cyber Security.
This initiative is a crucial step towards the digitalization of public services, providing citizens with a fast and efficient way to access the cryptographic devices required for electronic signature.
