A NEW CUPS INAUGURATED FOR THE BENEFIT OF CITIZENS
Residents of Mărculești Town in Florești district will benefit from public services available in electronic format, within the Unified Centre for Public Service Delivery (CUPS), which was inaugurated in early July. The opening event was attended by representatives of the district administration, local public authorities, the Electronic Governance Agency, as well as people from the city and neighbouring localities.
The participants at the event noted that the CUPS project is an innovative tool that provides citizens with easy access to modern and quality electronic public services, as well as informing and guiding them in accessing government platforms and portals, and CUPS specialists have the mission to help local citizens to access the services they need in electronic format, including cadastral services, civil status documents, permits, allowances and benefits, online submission of applications, checking the status of pension review applications, payment of payments for public services, etc.
The CUPS in Mărculești completes the network of such centres opened throughout the country. Local authorities in Rădulenii Vechi (Florești) have also expressed their intention to open a CUPS. In this context, the EGA team visited Rădulenii Vechi village, where they discussed the next steps to be taken to meet the requirements necessary to ensure the functioning of a CUPS, including the tasks of the CUPS specialist, platforms with which he/she will interact, ensuring electronic signature, and the importance of digital literacy of the population.
It should be noted that the CUPS project provides for the development of technological tools, information system, technical equipment, as well as the training of specialists and facilitating their collaboration with public institutions providing services at local and central level. So far, under the project “Modernization of Government Services”, implemented by the Electronic Governance Agency with the support of the World Bank, 100 CUPSs have been opened in all districts of the Republic of Moldova. Recently, 3 more mayoralties have decided to join the 100 CUPSs: Mărculești (Florești), Costești (Ialoveni) and Tvardița (Taraclia).
For the proper functioning of these centres, all CUPS specialists, designated by the local public authorities benefit from training and guidance in the delivery of public services within the CUPS by EGA experts.
Through this commitment, the Electronic Governance Agency constantly promotes digitalization at the local level and contributes to ensuring access to digital public services for people from disadvantaged and rural areas.
