EGA ATTENDED THE “URBIS SMART CITIES MEETUP”
Representatives of the Electronic Governance Agency (EGA) attended the “URBIS Smart Cities Meetup”, held in Brno, Czech Republic, between June 4th – 6th, 2024.
The event focused on smart solutions for cities and municipalities, bringing together 65 innovative companies and technology startups to exchange ideas and best practices for implementing smart solutions in the municipalities, cities and countries they represented.
During the event, the delegation of the Republic of Moldova consisting of representatives of EGA, the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, the Invest Agency and the Organization for Entrepreneurship Development presented an exhibition stand dedicated to digital projects and solutions developed by the Government of the Republic of Moldova. Therewith, EGA experts participated in the discussion panel “Challenges in Development of Cities and Communes in Ukraine and Western Balkans”. Key issues discussed during the panel were database management, data updating, as well as the re-use of digital solutions.
EGA representatives also held discussions and exchanged experiences with Brno authorities, responsible for the city’s strategic development agenda, presenting the results achieved in developing innovative projects and empowering local public authorities with tools for access to central public services, such as Unified Public Service Centres (CUPS), as well as the platform for digitalization of local services (e-APL Portal).
In their turn, the Brno authorities mentioned the services available in the city and the digital solutions implemented such as https://en.brno.cz/ - a web service available for access to public services, access to public events and documents to confirm residence.
The EGA experts also met with representatives of the Innovation Agency of the South Moravian Region and visited the Mayoralty of Kyjov locality, where they learned about the process of implementation of SMART City principles in the locality.
Delegation members noted that the Czech experience is useful for strengthening the officials’ knowledge and skills on information technologies, as well as for the development of digital tools for modern localities in the Republic of Moldova.
