For 10 years our citizens have been able to apply digital signatures using their mobile phones. The "Mobile Signature" innovative service was launched in September 2012 as a result of the cooperation between the E-Governance Agency, the Information Technology and Cyber Security Service (STISC) and mobile operators.

Over 10 years, the mobile signature proved to be useful and efficient, allowing for quick performance of operations, data integrity and confidentiality, secured processes, and highest comfort for the beneficiaries, etc.

More than 4,000 mobile signatures were issued in the first year. In comparison, over the last year, mobile operators received more than 30000 requests from subscribers.

In the Republic of Moldova, citizens can sign electronic documents and log in online, being able to choose from various types of digital signatures:

mobile (issued by the mobile operator, using the mobile phone);

electronic (USB-based, issued by STISC),

electronic ID (issued by the Agency for Public Services).

So far, about 900 thousand digital signatures have been issued in the Republic of Moldova.

Holders of (mobile or electronic) digital signatures are able to sign electronic documents and can log into various information systems and digital platforms, can browse various portals that offer many opportunities, but access is authorized only based on digital identity.

For example, the holders of digital signatures, can use the Government e-Signature Service #MSign (msign.gov.md) for electronic signatures. They can also grant representation powers through the #MPower Government Service, use the #MCabinet Service (mcabinet.gov.md), sign up for courses through # MLearn (mlearn.gov.md), order documents online, make appointments with various public entities to obtain various documents, submit tax reports, sign contracts, interact remotely with government institutions and become citizens with a high level of digital culture.
