MEGA, ATIC and Google launch first AI training Program for moldovan civil servants
For the first time, civil servants in the Republic of Moldova will benefit from a dedicated training program in artificial intelligence (AI), aimed at enhancing performance in their professional activities and supporting the implementation of innovative solutions in public administration and service delivery for citizens and businesses.
The program, targeting around 500 civil servants from various public authorities and institutions, will take place from May to June 2025. It is organized by the e-Governance Agency (MEGA) in partnership with the National Association of ICT Companies (ATIC) and Google, in collaboration with the State Chancellery.
The training will include both theoretical and practical sessions, equipping participants with the tools necessary to apply AI in areas such as public policy development, strategic planning, management and implementation of development and EU integration projects, as well as human resources and institutional communication.
The announcement was made by Nicoleta Colomeeț, Director of AGE, alongside Ana Chirița, Director of Strategic Projects at ATIC, and Elisabeta Moraru, Country Director at Google Romania, during the closing panel “Moldova’s AI playground – innovation, skills, and ecosystem building,” part of the second edition of the AI & Big Data Conference held in Chișinău.
MEGA Director Nicoleta Colomeeț reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to promoting digital tools and solutions, and increasing their adoption through capacity building—not only in the use of tools within the government digital ecosystem, but also in the practical use of AI instruments.
“We cannot talk about AI without understanding and working practically with AI-powered tools. When used correctly and effectively, these tools can reduce the bureaucratic burden, streamline public servants' work, and enhance creativity in their daily tasks. The agency is committed not only to promoting digital tools but also to developing in-house research and analysis initiatives, and it remains open to private sector partnerships. Collaboration is key to our shared success,” said Colomeeț.
Ana Chirița, Director of Strategic Projects at ATIC, added:
“Artificial intelligence is becoming an essential tool for the modernization of public services. Through this program, we aim to actively support the capacity building of civil servants to understand and apply AI solutions, making public administration more efficient, agile, and citizen-oriented. Our partnership with MEGA and Google reflects our commitment to supporting Moldova’s digital transformation through education, innovation, and strategic collaboration”.
MEGA representatives also participated in several discussion panels focused on the application of AI and its impact on the future of public services, presenting global, regional, and local case studies demonstrating how AI can enhance service delivery and public sector efficiency.
MEGA plays a key role in the digital transformation of the Republic of Moldova, promoting the “100% Digital” goal by developing and leveraging emerging technologies—including AI—to ensure more efficient governance and faster, higher-quality public services for citizens and entrepreneurs. At the same time, MEGA is committed to increasing digital literacy through education and training.
As part of this commitment, MEGA will implement the Professional Development Program for Civil Servants 2025–2027, which includes specialized AI training essential for the modernization of public administration.
The AI & Big Data Conference is organized by the National Association of ICT Companies (ATIC), the American Chamber of Commerce in Moldova (AmCham Moldova), and AC Tech, in partnership with the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization of the Republic of Moldova. The event is held under the patronage of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, Dorin Recean, who emphasized the Government’s commitment to integrating emerging technologies, particularly AI, into the national digitalization strategy in order to modernize public administration and improve its performance for the benefit of all citizens.
