2023-12-19 10:56

Today, December 19, 2023, government communicators gathered for a training session focused on strategic communication and enhancing the government's capacity to respond promptly to cyber threats.

During the training session, the participants had the opportunity to learn from Lauri Tankler, an international expert in cybersecurity from Estonia, how to identify cyber threat risks and communicate promptly and transparently about the measures authorities take to protect data and public information systems.

The Estonian specialist's expertise was based on effective techniques for managing public communication in crisis situations, as well as solutions to mobilize decision-makers to prevent and combat cases of cyber viruses, account and email breaches, or technical malfunctions and dysfunctions of government web pages.

The initiative reflects the government's strong commitment to strengthening government entities and increasing specialists' capabilities to address such challenges, efficiently managing sensitive situations related to the growing cyber threats and ensuring a safe and resilient digital environment for internet users.

"As government communicators, we are aware of the importance of cybersecurity in the digital era. This training marks our firm commitment to being proactive in our response to cyber risks and ensuring that we are prepared to handle crises effectively. Information security is our shared responsibility, and the knowledge gained today will help us navigate with confidence in the complex world of cybersecurity. Today, we have the opportunity to learn what approaches are appropriate in situations related to protecting data integrity and how we can respond to specific challenges in the digital era. Understanding these aspects is crucial for maintaining public trust in government institutions," mentioned Daniel Vodă, the government spokesperson.

The event was organized by the public institutions the Electronic Governance Agency and the Information Technology and Cybersecurity Service, with the support of the European Union Project "Moldova Cybersecurity Rapid Assistance", implemented by the Estonian Academy of Electronic Governance. Its purpose is to provide essential knowledge and practical tools to improve the communication skills of professionals in the public institutions of the Republic of Moldova, enabling them to address the increasingly complex challenges of the digital environment and provide support for effective strategic communication in various cybersecurity situations.
