EGA needs to become a centre that will strengthen all digital transformation efforts

The Deputy Prime Minister for Digitalization Iurie Turcanu met today with the representatives of the Employers' Association "American Chamber of Commerce of Moldova" (AmCham Moldova).

 

The meeting was organized at the initiative of the association and aimed at identifying the most important problems and finding solutions in the field of digital transformation jointly with representatives of the financial sector (banks, other payment service providers, non-bank lending organizations, alternative lending service providers etc.), representatives of the ICT sector, expert consultants, as well as companies in the real sector of the economy, interested in digital transformation, members of the Digital Transformation Committee.

 

The meeting was attended by the Director of the e-Governance Agency Olga Tumuruc, e-governance experts and over 40 members of AmCham Moldova. Topics discussed include: Remote identification according to unique parameters through the use of government tools; Electronic signature and extending its use, acceptance of electronic signatures issued in other countries, including unilateral recognition of electronic signatures issued in the EU and other relevant issues; Digitization of government services, including the interoperability of government registries in the interest of the business community and the use of certain information systems, data exchange, access to information, interoperability and fostering of the cashless economy and the development of payment systems, targeting primarily 2 authorities in this segment: the State Tax Service and the National Bank.

 

The dialogue also focused on the need to strengthen EGA’s efforts with institutions such as the Information Technology and Cyber ​​Security Service (STISC) and the Centre for Information Technology in Finance and to strengthen its capacity to achieve those digital transformations that everyone expects. Other topics that were discussed during the event are: simplification of tax compliance procedures with AIS (Authorized Information System) rules and other mechanisms to exclude the use of cash and paper in the economy; simplification of interaction with the state in terms of reporting, state controls; individual approaches for small and medium-sized enterprises; digitization of the archive; e-commerce and related challenges, QR-codes for various transactions.

 

Iurie Turcanu came with the following message to those present at the event: “I assure you of all my support and I urge you to put your shoulder to the wheel, to join our efforts. Let us have a joint platform for cooperation. A single person or institution cannot accomplish the task of transforming the country at the speed we all want. Let's all join our forces around principles, more transparency, less paperwork, less counter visits and more trust in electronic public services”.

 

The AmCham Moldova partners appreciated the fact that the Government has a digital transformation plan and thanked the Deputy Prime Minister for the openness to work with various institutions and companies, both local and international and expressed their increased interest in mutual cooperation, exchange of views and proposals regarding the advancement in the field of digital transformation, a process to which not only public institutions, as well as private ones need to adhere.

 

Moldova has a great potential for IT solutions. It is important to develop and make best use of these solutions as a matter of priority, concluded those present at the meeting.
