E-Governance Agency in a multilateral dialogue for the sustainability of global Internet and the priorities of a digital future
The Moldova Internet Governance Forum 2021 (MIGF), organized by the Internet Community Association, takes place on 19-20 October 2021 in Chisinau, with the participation of members of the parliament, representatives of key government institutions, international organizations, non-governmental organizations and experts in the field of digital business, technology and consulting companies, as well as digital development specialists from Moldova, Romania, Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan, Canada, the United States and other countries.
The Director of e-Governance Agency, Olga Tumuruc, participated in the first panel discussion "Digital inclusion and multilateral cooperation in managing the digital future", talking about the activity of the institution and its basic objectives: modernization of public services, coordination of investments in information technologies, development and implementation of e-transformation solutions, creation of platforms and services to improve the relationship between the state, citizens and the business sector. Olga Tumuruc also referred to digital initiatives of the digital inclusion of certain categories of people and ensuring access to public services for people with disabilities through innovative tools, applications and modern technologies that are an ongoing concern for EGA.
In the opening of the event, Iurie Turcanu, Deputy Prime Minister for Digitalization, invited to the Forum, mentioned the importance of the meeting in this format and the need to strengthen the efforts of different categories of subjects such as the public sector, civil society, technical community, academia, private sector, international organizations to discuss the challenges of internet access as well as security in the virtual environment.
"We need a secure and reliable internet and we must make every effort to have a guaranteed and protected virtual space in which each user can surf safely. I would like to thank the participating specialists and the organizers for the courage to organize such event in such difficult times. I support you and I assure you of all the trust and openness of the Government of the Republic of Moldova for collaboration", Iurie Turcanu said.
The participants discussed the global trends of digitalization during the pandemic and concluded that by combining effort, perseverance and consistent investment, a balance could be achieved between sustainability and digital development. The participants also concluded that the best use of resources generated from multi-stakeholder partnerships can help facilitate investment in digital infrastructure and build capacity to ensure data confidentiality and security. These actions are essential for the future of digital technologies in Moldova.
According to the organizers, MIGF 2021 held in Chisinau will help update the tasks of the digital agenda in the post-pandemic crisis, determine the perspectives of the multilateral dialogue on the sustainability of the global Internet and the priorities of a common digital future. The forum hosts expert debates, speeches and presentations, both online and offline.
