Cahul city's digital transformation priorities - consulted with e-governance experts

2021-11-30 07:56

Several experts in digitization of public services met today, 30 November, in Cahul, at the invitation of local authorities, to discuss the priorities of digital transformation of Cahul city.

During the discussion, the Director of the e-Governance Agency (EGA), Olga Tumuruc, thanked the local authorities for their initiative and their invitation to cooperation and mentioned: “This synergy will bring many benefits in the future and we hope it will be an example for other localities. In this endeavour, EGA has a complex mission and will support the modernization of services. This involves not only digitalization, but also a fundamental rethinking of services, through simplification and optimization in the first place. The good practices of other states show that it is efficient to rethink services from the citizens' perspective, because digitalization is for people”.

The delegation made of several representatives of relevant national institutions, led by Deputy Prime Minister for Digitalization, Iurie Turcanu, as well as representatives of development partners, visited several public institutions in Cahul to discuss potential digital solutions. The participants made fact-finding visits and met with officials and Cahul residents at the Cahul Multifunctional Centre, Cahul District Hospital, Moldova's Post Office in Cahul, Cahul State University and some institutions subordinated to the Cahul Mayor's Office.

In his message to the local authorities in Cahul, Iurie Turcanu mentioned: “I am sure that this event will give an even greater impetus to the digitalization process, not only for Cahul, but also other regions and localities in the country that will take over this example. We all wish to feel the benefits of digitalization at home. It is important that the initiative came from here, from the local people, and it was not imposed by others. We will create a healthy and constructive synergy between local authorities, central authorities and potential partners for the benefit of the people".

The priorities of digitalization of Cahul city were presented by Stella Badin, Deputy Mayor of Cahul, responsible for Digitalization. The participants were informed about the results of the mapping of target groups in Cahul city and proposed some concrete solutions for implementation. At the same time, during the joint working meeting, national initiatives and actions that can be successfully integrated into the activity of the Cahul local administration were considered.

The experts also stressed that the digital transformation process will be started first by mapping public services, after which the service provision activities will be homogenized and standardized, so that every citizen has free access to services from any corner and at any time, while interacting with the state authorities through technology and accessing online any service.

Today's action is a continuation of the cooperation between the EGA and the Cahul Mayor's Office, which started this autumn, under the aegis of the Deputy Prime Minister for Digitalization, and aims to ensure the digital transformation of the local administration in order to modernize and enhance the quality of public services provided at regional level.
