Open Government
Open Government is fundamentally changing the way we live as citizens, and the way executives govern and provide solutions to problems faced by the countries of the world. Open Government Partnership is an initiative of the countries of the world that want an efficient and open to citizen government, developed on the basis of new information technologies. Brazil, Indonesia, Mexico, Norway, United Kingdom, Philippines, South Africa and the USA are the eight founding governments of the Partnership.
Open Governments Partnership (OGP) was officially launched in September 2011, under the UN General Assembly. Afterwards, 26 other states have joined the initiative. Open Government Partnership means action. Is also means openness to citizens and a greater collaboration with civil society organizations. By using advanced information technologies, governments around the world seek to increase the access to information, promote transparency in governance, fight corruption and ensure citizens participation in the governing process.
The Republic of Moldova has expressed its interest to join this transformation, by joining the Open Government Partnership initiative. Preparing for accession, it was outlined an Action Plan for Open Government, which was then subjected to consultations with civil society. Following these consultations, the Action Plan was finalized based on the recommendations received from the civil society.
Moldova joined the initiative in April 2012 during the first annual meeting of the Open Government Partnership held in Brazil. The meeting was attended by representatives from over 50 countries.
By adopting the Action Plan for Open Government, the executive honors the commitments assumed under the Partnership for Open Government. Thus, the government has embraced global and EU’s efforts to improve the governance through technologies.
