Starting  from 1 July 2023, the e-Governance Agency will pilot the transfer of salary payments via the government's MPay electronic payment service. A Government Decision in this sense was approved today, 7 June 2023, by the Cabinet of Ministers.

This decision brings a number of benefits for employees, including the freedom to choose the bank through which to receive salaries, benefits and individualized offers from banks, the possibility to link the bank account with the salary payments through the governmental Citizen's Portal (the personal account MCabinet) without having to visit the bank.

The benefits for employers include the 0% fee for the transfer of salary payments to the employees of public institutions. This unique tool allows for the transfer of any type of salary payment regardless of the number of employees or the bank they choose.

The governmental electronic payment service MPay celebrates the 10-year anniversary this year. It has been 10 years of transparent, traceable and efficient process of collection of incomes to the national public budget and10 years of freedom for citizens to choose the most convenient way to make payments.

MPay started distributing payments to individuals and/or legal entities in January 2021. Currently, MPay is used by the National Social Insurance House, National Employment Agency to transfer social benefits, and by the Organization for Entrepreneurship Development to pay compensations to SMEs for loan interest etc.

Currently, more than 1500 services provided by about 230 public and private institutions can be paid for through the electronic service MPay, using a variety of payment instruments.
